| Join the fun and stay cool as the Chamber of Commerce presents Superior’s National Day of the Cowboy celebration on July 25th. Opening ceremonies for La Noche De Vaquero begin on Main St. at 4 pm. Local cowboys and their horses will arrive and be recognized for their contribution to American history. Following the ceremony the events and water just keep flowing.
From 4 pm to 10 pm three large water slides will be open and a $10 tickets gives you unlimited use. Want to dunk someone special? Try your luck at dunking one of our local officials or your best friend in the dunk tank. A beer garden, featuring Budweiser products, will open at 4 pm and remain open throughout the evening. Nearby, wet your whistle with sample varieties of tequila.
Carnival games, water balloon tosses, a watermelon eating contest, cowboy story time, crafts and Cosmo the clown will be here for the young and the young at heart. When you need to slow down a bit, watch the entertainment at Main and Neary. Roping exhibitions and basic lessons, square dancing performances, line dancing lessons, folklorico dancers and tap dancing cowgirls will all be presenting their shows. When you get hungry or thirsty they’ll be plenty of goodies to choose from.
When the sun sets in the West, Morenci’s Gila Valley Idol, Tea Campbell, along with Bea Denogean, will perform on the big stage at the East end of Main. Boogie on up to the stage and listen to the renowned country/western/rock band “Mogollon”. Dance the night away under the summer stars. Presales to the street dance are $10 and $15 at the door.
If horseshoes are your thing, the Optimists are sponsoring a cash purse tournament. Signs ups at noon with the tournament start at 1 pm.
