Ground breaking held for Steele Brook Greenway:
Construction anticipated to start in 2010

The town of Watertown hosted a ground breaking ceremony for the Steele Brook Greenway on Thursday, November 12, at the intersection of French Street and Depot Street.

According to Town Manager Chuck Frigon, he has visited many greenways in other towns and he marveled at the "sense of community" they give the town.

Cercemaggiore Club withdraws application
for pavilion

The Cercemaggiore club has withdrawn an application to the Planning & Zoning Commission to expand its pavilion, in a letter dated Thursday, October 29.

Cercemaggiore President John Vitone wrote in a letter to P&Z that the application was being withdrawn because other expenses, such as replacing two heating/air conditioning units in the banquet hall's main hall, are a "higher priority at this time."

Council sets public hearing for police equipment,
Approves a number of equipment appropriations

The Town Council set a public hearing for 7 p.m. Monday, December 7, at the Watertown High School Lecture Hall, for $30,000 for the purchase of 11 new mobile data terminals and server for patrol cars, at its Monday, November 16 meeting. The council also approved a number of other police-related action items.

The money for the data terminals has come to the town from grant funding, through the Office of Policy and Management, according to Chief of Police John Gavallas. The terminals and server will "increase the speed and efficiency of the Mobile Data Terminals used by our officers in the field," according to Chief Gavallas.
