MANNING -- IKM-Manning rallied three times against West Marshall in last Wednesday's Class 2-A Substate battle, ultimately winning 35-30 on Matt Vogel's 11-yard touchdown run with 1:01 remaining.
The Wolves (9-1) trailed 23-14 early in the fourth quarter before Bryce Irlbeck found Rick Blake for a 35-yard touchdown pass. A short TD run by Jerad Croghan put IKM-Manning up 29-23 with 3:40 to go, but the Trojans' Dalton Ferch returned the ensuing kickoff 78 yards and West Marshall regained the lead, 30-29. The Wolves answered by driving 75 yards in eight plays, capped by Vogel's late score. An interception by Robert Tank finally sealed the victory.
Croghan finished with 184 yards rushing on 29 carries and Vogel rushed 14 times for 94 yards. The Wolves outgained the Trojans (6-4) in total offense, 425-225. IKM-Manning played a first-round playoff game at Bondurant-Farrar (8-2) on Monday night.
