A-H-S-T beats Fremont-Mills 46-8 AVOCA -- For the third straight year and fourth time in the last five seasons, the A-H-S-T football team has finished the regular season with a perfect 9-0 record. The No. 2-ranked (Class A) Vikings completed their most recent unblemished mark Friday night with a convincing 46-8 win over Fremont-Mills. A-H-S-T finished 6-0 as the District 8 champion, while Fremont-Mills ended up 3-6 overall and 2-4 in the district. The Vikings have now won 27 straight regular season games dating back to October of 2006. "We have had a lot of very dedicated, hard working, coachable players the last several years," said A-H-S-T head coach Cory Faust. "They have helped build a strong football tradition here at A-H-S-T, and I am thankful for what all the former players have done for the program - even the players before the undefeated regular seasons. "I'm proud of the team and what we have accomplished this season so far. This group of guys has been great to work with. As great as it has been, I don't think we should be satisfied. There is a lot more we can accomplish this year if we keep getting better." On Friday, Vikings' senior quarterback Seth Enke threw four touchdown passes and also scored on a 73-yard run in the first half alone to lead his team to a 39-0 lead at intermission. Enke's TD tosses covered 78 and 21 yards to Gunner Gilland, 40 yards to Hunter Nelsen and 14 yards to Dylan Zornes. A-H-S-T also got a 15-yard TD run from Tanner Eichelberger and a 38-yard punt return touchdown by Gilland in the fourth quarter. Fremont-Mills didn't get on the board until late in the game when Nate Meier scored from three yards out. A-H-S-T finished with a resounding 425-95 advantage in total offense, showcasing great balance with 214 rushing yards and 211 passing yards. Enke completed 7-of-13 passes for 211 yards and was intercepted once. Gilland had 99 receiving yards and Nelsen was right behind with 98 yards on four catches. Enke finished as the top rusher with 108 yards on six carries, and Zornes and Gilland added 40 and 39 yards, respectively. On the defensive side of the ball, Nate Pigsley, Matt Whyte, Robert Fauteux and Alex Long all recovered a fumble for A-H-S-T. Gabe Fell led the team with 15 total tackles (14 solos), followed by Whyte with 14 and Enke with five. A total of 16 Vikings recorded at least one tackle.
