**VALENTINA JANISCH Valentina M. Janisch, 86, Eden, SD died May 23, 2009 at Marshall County Healthcare Center, Britton. Funeral services will be Friday, May 29 at 10:30 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Eden. Visitation will be held Thursday, May 28 from 2-5 p.m. at The Cahill Funeral Chapel and from 6 to 7 p.m. at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church with a 7 p.m. Scripture Service and rosary at the church. Cahill Funeral Chapel of Sisseton is in charge of arrangements. **AYDEN PETTERSEN The funeral for Ayden Ryan Pettersen, three and a half month old son of Ryan T. and Kristina H. (Steinbach) Pettersen of Fargo, will be Friday, May 29 at 2 p.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church of Forman, ND. The Reverend Chris Gaule will officiate and burial will be in the Forman Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour preceding the funeral at the church. Ayden died Saturday, May 23, 2009 in Bismarck, ND. Arrangements are under the direction of the Price Funeral Chapel of Forman. **JAMES LEE The funeral for James D. Lee, 67, Aberdeen, formerly of Pierpont, will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday May 30 at the Price Funeral Chapel of Britton. Burial will be in the Skudesnes Cemetery of rural Pierpont. Visitation will be one hour preceding the funeral. James Donald Lee was born December 22, 1941 at Pierpont, to John E. and Oveda (Nelson) Lee. He lived with his parents on their farm near Pierpont. The last years of his life, James has resided at the Adjustment Training Center in Aberdeen. He lived there until a few months ago when failing health made it necessary to move to Golden Living Center in Redfield. He died there on Tuesday, May 12, 2009. Survivors include; one sister, Alice Geissinger, Omaha, NE, and many great friends and acquaintances. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister. **MATHILDA WALETICH Funeral Mass for Mathilda M. "Tillie" (Deutsch) Waletich, 88, Eden, was held Thursday, May 21, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Eden, with the Rev. Fr. Tom Cool celebrant. Organist was Mary Wagner, and soloist was Katie Wegleitner and music provide by Sacred Heart Catholic Church Choir. Pallbearers were Tom Block, Dana Gaukel, Denise Lagro, Julie Johnson, Kevin Block, Earl Cressman, Brenda Erickson and Lynn Klepper. Honorary pallbearers were all of Mathilda's great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren, Diane Sommers, Virginia Gruby, Lori and Joe Honer. Burial was in St. Michael's Catholic Cemetery, Eden. Cahill Funeral Chapel, Sisseton, was in charge of arrangements. She died May 17, 2009 at Sanford Hospital, Webster. Mathilda was born June 11, 1920 in Eden to Joseph L. and Anna (Sattler) Deutsch. She attended parochial school in Eden and finished 8th grade in a country school. Mathilda's life work was being a housewife and farmer. Her interests were her love of gardening, flowers, cooking and visiting with friends and family. Mathilda was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Eden. Survivors include; three daughters, Mary Ann (Ed) Metter, Yankton, Janice Block, Apple Valley, MN and Lillian (Tom) Jansen, Lake Park, IA; one son, Dayton Deutsch, Eden; one sister, Regina Lentz, Watertown; two brothers, William (Arlene) Deutsch, Eden, and Florenz (JoAnn) Deutsch, Eden, one sister-in-law, Mary Deutsch, Madison; eight grandchildren, fourteen great grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, first husband, Richard Deutsch and second husband George Waletich; one infant son, and one great grandchild, two brothers, two sisters and one son-in-law. **RENA MARY ANN HERMAN Funeral services for Rena Mary Ann Herman, 72, Veblen, was held, Tuesday, May 26 at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Veblen with Pastor Harold A. Watrous officiating. Organist was Coleen Halverson with special music by the Ole Olson Trio. Burial was at Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery, rural Havana, ND. Frank Family Funeral Home in Lidgerwood, ND, was in charge of arrangements. Pallbearers were: Mitch Herman, Steve Strom, Nick Strom, Bryan Strom, Ben Herman, Mike Grobe, Ambrose Lamin, Aaron Leroux. Honorary pallbearer was her nephew: Jason Shephard. Mary Ann died unexpectedly May 21, 2009. Mary Ann was born January 12, 1937 to Ole and Dorothy Kleven (Peterson) in Hillhead. She graduated from Veblen High School. On June 4, 1955 she was united in marriage to Malloy Herman in Webster. After their marriage they lived and farmed near Veblen. She was a member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Veblen and the WELCA. She worked for a number of years at Dakotah Pillow Factory in Veblen and most recently at Grobe's Grocery in Veblen. Survivors include; her husband; seven children: Kathy (Ambrose) Herman-Lamin, Minneapolis, MN, Rick (Nancy), Veblen, Steve, Wichita, KS, Wayne, Casselton, ND, Janet (Bryan) Strom, West Fargo, ND, Mark, Aberdeen, and Connie Herman, Casselton, ND.; six grandchildren; one brother Wallace Kleven; one sister Nellie Mannin. She was preceded in death by her parents, infant son, brother, daughter-in-law, brother-in-law, sister-in-law and nephew. **CLIFFORD BUSH Clifford Bush, 92, died Tuesday, May 19, 2009 at Marshall County Healthcare Center in Britton. Funeral services were held Saturday, May 23 at the Britton United Methodist Church. Rev. Kris Mutzenberger officiated. Music was provided by Doris Olson and Donna Olson, organist and pianist, with Vicki Henschel, soloist and Andrea Kilker, accompanist. Burial was in the Britton Cemetery. Price Funeral Chapel of Britton was in charge of arrangements. Casketbearers were Jerry Roslawski, Tom Albertsen, Rob Roslawski, Scott Bush, Michael Bush and Brian Bush. Honorary casketbearers were Sheri Roslawski, Laurie Boogaard, Melissa Schrag, Shelly Phillips and Becky Siecke. Clifford Willis Bush was born July 1, 1916 near Britton to W.E. and Ida (Kincaid) Bush. He grew up on the family farm and attended rural Marshall County school in Stena Township. He was active in 4-H throughout his school years. He graduated from Britton High School in 1936, where he excelled in football. He continued his education at South Dakota State College in Brookings where he studied agriculture for three years. During his time there, Cliff was chosen to represent South Dakota as a part of the national judging team in Chicago. On October 7, 1939 he married Beulah Jean Warnstadt at Rock Rapids, IA. They moved to the Bush family farm west of Britton, where they farmed, raised their family and made their home until 1992. At that time they moved into Britton. Beulah died March 5, 2005. When Cliff took over the farm, it was a multi-faceted operation. He began to specialize in Registered Angus Cattle, something he had begun with his dad at the age of 11. With the help of his son and grandson, that herd has produced national champions and is well respected across the country. Cliff was a charter member of the South Dakota Angus Association, and served as president in 1952, and had received the Honored Breeder Award. He was instrumental in organizing the South Dakota Production Record Association and a pioneer on the importance in the area of record keeping for herds. Cliff was the oldest lifelong member of the Britton United Methodist Church and filled several offices over the years. He had served on the building committee when the new church was built and was extremely proud when the mortgage was burned. He was a 50 year member of the Order of the Eastern Star, the Scottish Rite, and was a member of the Britton Masonic Lodge for over 61 years, where he was a Life Member and Past Master. He had served as a 4-H Leader, and in his younger years Cliff enjoyed pitching horseshoe, hunting and fishing. Lately, Cliff's favorite pastimes would include playing cards and visiting with friends. Cliff was an excellent welder, and a prolific inventor. He could look at anything, and see a way to make it work easier and better. He and Beulah had been avid sports fans, and seldom missed local games. Pocket gophers in Stena Township lived in fear of Cliff Bush! Cliff was a farmer, first, foremost and always. He was proud of the birthright he had received from his father before him, and extremely pleased to be able to pass that heritage on to subsequent generations. Survivors include; his four children: Donna (Jerry) Roslawski, Omaha, NE, James (Carol) Bush, Britton; Ronald (Mim) Bush, Phoenix, AZ, Peggy (Tom) Albertsen, Omaha, NE; nine grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; a brother, Martie (Arlene) Bush, Britton; and two sisters: Evelyn (Hank) Cimburek, Upton, WY and Helen Clause, St. George, UT. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, two brothers and two sisters. **LLOYD SANDERSON The funeral for Lloyd A. Sanderson, 89, was held Thursday, May 21 at the Claremont United Methodist Church. Rev. Ryan Mutzenberger officiated. Burial was in Sunset Memorial Gardens, Aberdeen under the direction of Price Funeral Chapel of Britton. He died Sunday, May 17, 2009 at Dougherty Hospice House on the Avera-Prince of Peace Campus in Sioux Falls. Lloyd Allen Sanderson was born September 7, 1919 in Verdon to Ivan and Jennie (Clark Huson) Sanderson. After graduating from Groton High School he went on to Flandreau Technical School to study drafting. He worked for KO Lee Company in Aberdeen, until transferring to the South Dakota Highway Department in Pierre. On August 7, 1941 he married Mildred Scales of Claremont. At the onset of World War II he was recruited by Boeing Aircraft of Seattle, WA, to join in the war effort as a tool designer for the B-17. His father became ill in 1944 and the family returned to Claremont to assist his Dad in farming. In 1955 Lloyd and Mildred purchased the lumber yard in Claremont, and ran Sanderson Lumber Company until retiring in 1982. He served on the town board and was mayor of Claremont for many years. Lloyd was a long time member of the Claremont United Methodist Church. Many memories were made at their lake cabin on Clear Lake. Lloyd, Mildred and their dog KC were avid fishermen, fishing from Clear Lake to the Missouri River and on into Canada. They also enjoyed collecting antiques together. He mastered woodworking and enjoyed building "memories" for his customers. Mildred died December 3, 2003 and Lloyd continued to make his home in Claremont. Survivors include his four children; Larry (Sandy), Overland Park, KS, Carol Lee (Bill) Chalmers,Great Falls, MT, Leonard (Elizabeth), Mina; and Lorrie (Carla), Claremont; 13 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren and his youngest brother Harold Sanderson, Claremont. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, two sisters and a brother. Casketbearers were Kevin Sanderson, Scott Bride, Lloyd Sanderson, Brock Sanderson, Brandon Sanderson, Robert Sanderson, Landen Sanderson, Levi Sanderson and Lane Sanderson. Honorary casketbearers were Suzanne Turley, Stephanie Johnson, Hollie Stalder, Maria Sanderson, Larry Cutler, John Freeland, Rich Hardy, Don Hinrichs, Ryan Mutzenberger, Dennis Palmer, Dennis Peterson, Bruce Shilhanek and Ron Wegleitner. Music for the funeral was provided by Faye Stohr, pianist and Terry Price, soloist.
