The OHS girls golf team competed at the class 2A regional meet hosted by the Carroll Golf and Country Club on Monday. The team earned an invitation after finishing second in district play on May 14. Touchy greens and nerves were evident in the early holes. Weather could not be blamed as there was barely a breeze to punctuate the picture perfect day. The girls' scores improved as they found their groove, but unfortunately so did their opponents. The Lady Bulldogs would finish fourth, tied with Missouri Valley at 412. Kuemper Catholic, who ran away with the district competition, were dominant again with a team score of 376, followed by Clarinda at 394. Sophomore Emily Rinehart made a run at the state tournament with an 18-hole score of 93. She would finish seventh overall, just two strokes away from qualifying. Elisabeth Rinehart would come in next for the ladies with 98, followed by Amber Breitbarth (107), Sydney Neubauer (114), Sveta Hansen (117), and Aubrey Hunter (124). The season is not quite over for the ladies as they will participate in the State Coed Competition on June 5th. WCAC REGIONAL STANDINGS May 21 @ Carroll 1. Kuemper Catholic 376 2. Clarinda 394 3.
