Enterprise school officials plan to honor history at halftime Friday night in Bates Memorial Stadium’s final regular season, high school game.
Enterprise Principal Rick Rainer invited “anyone who has a connection with Enterprise High School football in ‘The Hole,’” to Friday’s game against Jeff Davis. The game will be the last in the venerable stadium’s 54-year history.
A new high school and stadium are being built on property near the northwest side of Boll Weevil Circle. Enterprise High School, part of the stadium and Hillcrest Elementary School were destroyed in the March 1, 2007, tornado that killed nine people, including eight EHS students. Officials decided a new stadium should be built near the new high school.
Bates Memorial Stadium has been home to the Wildcats since the 1956 season. Since then, Enterprise has won more than 75 percent of its home games.
