Quisenberry takes role of governor during youth legislature
Hundreds of students got an inside look at state government after participating in the 62nd session of the Alabama YMCA Youth Legislature Conference in Montgomery Feb. 22, but only one had the chance to serve as governor. Enterprise High School senior Jonathan Quisenberry was elected during last year’s conference to act as governor for the annual four-day conference. Quisenberry and other students spent the weekend in the capital working at the statehouse participating in mock legislative sessions, which model the official sessions exactly, and to present bills for approval by committees.

Convicted robber gets 99 years
A convicted robber of an Enterprise business will spend the rest of his life behind bars — a sentence Circuit Judge Robert Barr said fit the danger of the crime.
Emmitt Jones Monday was sentenced to serve 99 years in prison for the Jan. 29, 2008 robbery of ACA Financial.
The sentence, Barr said, was a “fair” sentence because of not only Jones’s criminal history, but also because Jones used a gun while robbing the business.
