College game slows down as Randolph sets records
For most of Jonas Randolph’s high school career, he was the fastest player on the football field.
It took Randolph one play in practice at Mars Hill College to see things were different.
“On my first carry when I first got here, I saw (the college game) was way faster,” Randolph said. “Once you play (though), everything slows down. Your eyes get that vision and everything slows down.”
Things must have slowed down a lot for Randolph. The sophomore recently was named South Atlantic Conference Co-Offensive Player of the Year after virtually rewriting the Mars Hill record book.

Turman prepares for first year as Daleville coach
The Daleville Warhawks are looking to a new young coach to turn their once-proud boys basketball program back in a winning direction.
Troy Turman enters his first season as the new varsity boys coach after leading the Daleville 8th-grade team to a 12-1 mark last year. He was appointed as the new varsity boys coach replacing Josh Roberts just prior to the start of the 2009-2010 school term.
Turman is no stranger to winning basketball programs. He was the starting point guard who guided tiny 1A Pleasant Home High School from Covington County to a pair of state championships during the 2001 and 2002 campaigns.

Daleville wins ninth game
The Daleville seventh and eighth-grade boys basketball team used a strong defensive effort to defeat Coppinville Junior High 44-23 Monday to improve its record to 9-1.
The Warhawks faced tough competition from Coppinville for a quarter. After one period the score was 6-6.
But the pressure defense eventually wore down the Eagles. Daleville outscored Coppinville 10-0 in the second quarter and led 17-6 at halftime.

One and Done Bayside uses big play offense, dominant defense to end Daleville playoff run
After reaching the third round of the state playoffs in 2008, the Daleville Warhawks were unable to recapture the post-season magic in 2009.
The Bayside Academy Admirals used big scoring plays in the first half and dominant defense during the second half to come away with a convincing 27-14 victory over the Warhawks in the first round of the Alabama High School Athletic Association Class 3A State Football Playoffs before a sparse crowd in Daleville Friday night.
The Admirals (8-3) from Baldwin County avenged a 21-17 setback to the Warhawks during last year’s state playoffs by knocking out the Warhawks.

Randolph earns POY honor
Former Daleville running back Jonas Randolph didn’t need long to adjust to a starting role. It didn’t take officials with the South Atlantic Conference long to notice.
Randolph was named the South Atlantic Conference’s Co-Offensive MVP Monday, sharing the title with Carson-Newman quarterback Alex Good.
