Playing the field
Area teams compete in youth football tournament

A week after the Enterprise High School football team played its last game at Bates Memorial Stadium, some future Wildcats got a chance to play in the venerable stadium. Teams from the Enterprise Parks and Recreation Department’s Pee Wee and Midget leagues began their season-ending tournament Nov. 7 in “The Hole.” The Pee Wee league concluded its tournament Nov. 12 on the softball fields at Donaldson Park. The Midget league finished the play-off last Thursday on Warren Field. Teams from the Termite and Junior leagues finished their years at Donaldson Park and Warren Field, respectively.

Wind Creek Casino & Hotel in Atmore recently added a state-of-the-art upscale Cooking Studio to its list of hotel attractions at the multi-million dollar resort. Corporate executive chef Stafford DeCambra, an honors graduate of the Culinary Institute of America and winner of two gold, one silver, and two bronze medals from the Culinary Olympics in Germany, said the Cooking Studio offers many ways for guests to explore and expand their culinary knowledge.

Chef Ben Spraggins was taking a group of nice ladies from Baldwin County’s various senior citizens centers through a three-hour, hands on “Tour of Italy” in the state-of-art cooking and dining facility.
Sporting our new complimentary white aprons and chef’s hats, we were introduced to the group and took a spot at a vacant work station.
